UK Marriage Visa

Categories: UK

Thai wife UK Marriage visa. There is no such visa as a UK Marriage visa. The correct name is a settlement visa. Never the less a large percentage of people that contact us about getting a visa for their Thai wife ask about getting a UK Marriage visa.

To obtain a UK Marriage visa

To obtain a UK Marriage visa – Settlement visa, you must first be married to your wife. This may be obvious to you, but people do contact us that have no intention of getting wed and ask if they can get their Thai girlfriend back to England on a UK Marriage Visa.

As the husband you will have to provide evidence to show that you can support your Wife and that you have a suitable accommodation.

If you are claiming benefits, the embassy will not allow your wife to live in the UK. This includes incapacity benefits. If you are on a state pension with no other income you will not be able to get a UK Marriage visa.

When the visa has been issued, your Thai Wife will be able to live in the UK, at first for two years. Within that time she may work and use the services of the National Health Service, though she will not be able to claim any government benefits.

After the two years period, you and your wife will then have to reapply in England to renew the visa. When the visa is renewed, your wife will be able to stay in England for the rest of her life.
