There are many myths regarding getting visas for Thai girlfriends. Many men believe that they have to give monthly money, or a large sum of money to their Thai girlfriend before the embassy will take their visa application seriously.
Myth 1 – I have to give my Thai girlfriend money every month before I can apply for a visa.
This is simply not the case, Giving money to your Thai girlfriend is part of demonstrating that you are in a relationship, after all you wouldn’t send money to a random person.
Though this doesn’t mean you have to send your girlfriend money every month. However your Thai girlfriend may depend on your support to pay rent, eat and support her family.
Myth 2 – My Thai girlfriend needs to own and house or land to get a visa.
You do not have to buy your Thai girlfriend land or a house to get a visa, there are many ways to demonstrate to the embassy that your Thai girlfriend intends on returning to Thailand.
Myth 3 – My Thai girlfriend needs 500,000 Baht in the Bank to get a visa.
A large bank balance will not get your Thai girlfriend a visa, hers or yours. Depending on the visa required and the length of time she plans on visiting you an amount of money will be required in her bank account, but it isn’t large amounts.
