March 1st 2010 has seen a 10 month slump in the British pound again the Thai Baht. The financial gurus predict that this slump is going to get worse with the Pound heading towards $1.20 by the summer of 2010.
If the GBP Pound Sterling does trade at $1.20 then you will only get 40 Baht to the Pound. This will make it expensive to holiday in Thailand.
For a single man on a two week holiday in Pattaya
- Staying in a 1500 Baht a night hotel
- Daily company costing 1300 Baht a day
- Food drink and entertainment budget of 1500 Baht
- Total daily budget 4300 Baht
In December 2009 or January 2010 this would require a spending amount for the two week holiday of £1150
It is predicted that by the summer of 2010 because of the weakening pound the cost will rise to £1500. Increasing the cost of the same holiday by 32%
For some people this increase cost as a result of the weakening pound will make it too expensive to travel to Thailand.

It is expected that the summer of 2010 there will be a large increase in the amount of UK Tourist visa application made in Thailand for Thai girlfriends to visit the UK.

The exchange rate between the Pound and the Baht in March, April and May 2010 is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.
